Did you know?
Every year approximately 795,000 people in the United States suffer a stroke with two-thirds of those people needing rehabilitation and homecare afterward, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and stroke.
What is a stroke?
A stroke is when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot, burst, or ruptures. When this occurs a part of your brain cannot get the blood flow and oxygen it needs, so the brain cells die. Having a stroke is a traumatic experience and requires adjusting back into your everyday life. The simplest of tasks can become a challenge for a stroke survivor so it’s very important for the person to take the necessary steps to recovery to avoid any other physical or emotional setbacks.
